Collage Design Project
You will use your new Photoshop skills and creativity to create a photo collage using multiple images and text to convey a message of some kind to your audience. You will choose a theme and brainstorm the message you want to project. Your theme must be approved by Stiles before you begin working.
You will use the classroom camera or your smartphone's camera to capture images. Don't forget the photography composition techniques we talked about at the beginning of this section. You must use a minimum of 4 images in your design but you'll need to capture more on your camera in case a shot doesn't work out. Keep in mind; ALL images need to be modified in multiple ways. Use the skills and techniques we worked with in the classwork assignments during class. It is up to you what canvas size you will need (but it will be printed, 300 PPI, on an 8.5x11 inch paper). Remember to not only edit your photographs but to create a visually pleasing layout and design. When you have completed your collage, you will need to write a 2 paragraph paper reflecting on what you have create, what techniques you used, etc. Collage images must include:
In addition to your collage, you will type a 2 paragraph paper reflecting on what you've learned so far and how the skills you've learned allowed you to create your photo collage. You will also describe the photography compositional techniques and Photoshop techniques you used to enhance each of your images. When you turn in your collage save it as lastname+firstname+collage in both JPEG and PSD format along with a folder of all of your original images (unedited) used in the collage, and your 2 paragraph reflection paper (Google Doc). The folder housing the collage files, folder of originals, and reflection paper will be named the same lastname+firstname+collage. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements! |

Surreal Photo Merge
You will be creating a photo merge collage using multiple images and text to convey a message or tell a story of some kind to your audience. You will need to choose a theme and brainstorm the message you want to project. Use the Internet (Google Images) to find images to work with. Make sure you are only choosing Large, High Quality images to work with. You must use a minimum of 10 images. But, keep in mind; ALL images need to be modified in multiple ways. 1 image will need to serve as your background (but needs to be edited as well).
Use the skills and techniques we have been learning in the classwork assignments during class. It is up to you what canvas size you will need. Remember to not only edit your photographs but to create a visually pleasing layout and design. How would you combine images that do not go together at all? How can you make one flow to the other seamlessly? Think back to the Photo Editing in order to help you. Be creative!
After you have finished, save a PSD and JPEG named last name + first name + photomerge. You will turn in a folder (named lastname+firstname) in Google Drive. Include the following:
You will turn in a hard copy of your checklist to your period's folder. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements! |
