Jazz Video Project
To get started in Premiere, you are going to create a music video that will help you learn some basic tools and features. You have been hired as a video editor by the Blues Festival. They want you to create a video using still images that will promote Jazz music. The images should change on the beat of the song. You will use the files located in the Student Shared folder.
Listen to the jazz music and take notice of the constant beat. You will have a new jazz image appear at each one of these music beats. Editing video to the beat of music is a basic skill that is used in all levels of video production. Remember to adjust scale and position on each image so that it fills the entire screen. As you work, save your project as a Premiere Project file (.PRPROJ) and name it lastname+firstname+jazz. Export the media using the H.264 format with the same name (ex: stilesnatashajazz.MP4). Submit the exported file using Google Drive. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements! |

Story Video Project
You have been hired as a video editor by Stories through Images, Inc. They want you to tell a story through video editing, using still images and a music track. The images should change on the beat of the words in the song and zoom in and out to provide movement.
Select a music track of your own, that is school appropriate, and take notice of the lyrics of what is said in the song. You will only use 1 minute of the song. You are going to tell a story through moving images based on what is being said in the song. A new image will appear with the different things being said in the song. Go on-line and find images that relate to your song to tell the story. Add a title a the beginning to introduce the video or add some titles throughout the video. Editing video to the beat of music or to words is a basic skill that is used in all levels of video production. Remember to alternate zooming in and out with each image. Remember to fade up your first image from black and fade out you last image to black. As you work, save your project as a Premiere Project file (.PRPROJ) and name it lastname+firstname+story. Export the media using the H.264 format with the same name (ex: stilesnatashastory.MP4). Submit the exported file using Google Drive. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements! |

Camera Techniques Project
A quick way to tell if a video production is of professional quality or done by an amateur is the use of proper shot composition and camera movement techniques. In this project, you will learn about each type of shot and get practice collecting each one. You will be using your iPhones or smartphones and you will be pair up with one of your classmates.
Go through the notes for VIDEO TECHNIQUES and review the common shot compositions and camera movements, you will find a partner. Using the cameras, collect an example of each technique we learned in class. The shot compositions can be either a still image or a moving video. To demonstrate the camera movements, video is needed. Create a New Project in Premiere Pro and import your photos and videos from the camera onto your classroom computer. Place one example of each shot list on the list to the right in the same exact order. For each shot, add a Text slide naming it and put a lower third of the screen with the text in on top of the image file. Make sure your photo or video is edited to usable video and the frame size fills the screen. Finally, add a background song and a Title slide with you and your partner's names on it to make your video more interesting to the audience. After you have finished your project, save it as a Premier Pro Project file with the last names of each group member + technique. Export the media using the H.264 format with the same name (ex: stilesstilestechnique.MP4). Submit the exported video to Google Drive and then complete the peer evaluation. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements. |

Group Video Project
Videos are a great way to teach someone how to do something, simple or complex. You and your group need to come a topic that you can create a "How To" video around. Make sure you know who your audience is going to be and create your video accordingly.
You will be working in groups of three for this project. As a team, decide on a subject matter that appeals to all of your members. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR TOPIC APPROVED BEFORE YOU START. Do your research (if needed) about your topic to come up with a 30 to 60 second video that will accurately match your topic. You will first create a storyboard and a script detailing the order of your shots and text. You must turn this in first in order to start filming. Don't forget that your video should have proper shot composition and camera techniques! For each portion, you will need text describing the video to the audience and you will need an intro part of your video with text. Save the project with all of the last names of each group member + groupvideo. Export the media using the H.264 format with the same name (ex: stilesstilesgroupvideo.MP4). Submit the exported video to Google Drive and then complete the peer evaluation. Don't forget to review the rubric to make sure you are meeting all of the project requirements. |

Short Story Video
In this project you will incorporate both your own audio voice over and your own created graphics into your video. You will start by finding a short story (around a minute long when recorded). You will need to plan your video using a storyboard. Show your storyboard to Stiles before proceeding:
- You will record your voice over, make any edits needed in Audition, and add to your project folder
- You with create your own graphics to go along with the short story (Photoshop or Illustrator). Your graphics should help you tell the story (not take away from it). :You should save your graphics as a JPEG or PNG (if you need a transparent background) and place in your project folder.
- When you have your voice over and graphics ready you will create a new project in Premiere Pro and import your digital assets.
- At least 1 title and many transitions should be used throughout the video.
- After creating your video you will export an MP4 (H.264) named last name + first name + short story
